Icewine truly embodies the essence of winter's nectar, and its allure is undeniable. Often referred to as the "nectar of the gods," this extraordinary beverage commands high prices, with some bottles reaching astronomical figures like the rare Royal DeMaria, 2000 Chardonnay icewine, which can cost a staggering $250,000 for just 350 ml (11.8 oz). While most icewines are priced below that level, they still maintain higher price points compared to traditional wines.

The magic of icewine lies in its production process. The grapes used to create this luscious dessert wine are left on the vine until they freeze, resulting in a concentrated and intensely flavorful grape juice. When pressed, each frozen grape yields only a fraction of the juice compared to its non-frozen counterpart. In fact, vintners often say that each frozen grape produces just one precious drop of icewine.

The flavor profile of icewine is truly divine. Depending on the grape varietal, the aromatic bouquet can offer enticing notes of peach, pear, honey, dried apricot, and green apple. In the glass, the taste is a sumptuous amalgamation of apricot, peach, mango, melon, and other lusciously sweet fruits. It's an indulgent experience that tantalizes the senses and leaves a lasting impression.

This fabulous black tea blend takes advantage of the real icewine to deliver the same fruity sweetness in a rich and rounded cup. Each sip offers a delightful fusion of flavors, immersing you in the essence of icewine and the luxurious sensation it embodies.

The origin of icewine remains somewhat mysterious. While no one knows for certain who invented it, the ancient Latin poet Marcus Valerius Martialis (AD 40-102) mentioned that grapes should be left on the vine until they stiffened with frost. Clearly, he appreciated the richness and sweetness that November brought to the wines produced. This history and tradition only add to the allure and mystique of this extraordinary beverage.
